Company: Sengistix, LLC

Company and Product Description:

Sengistix provides a wide variety of equipment and services to assist care givers in helping individuals live more independent lives and stretch precious time and financial resources.  From as little as offering a 24/7 call pendant to a full set of sensors monitoring most daily living activities, up to adding cameras and remote supervision by a virtual caregiver on duty; Sengistix offers an array of smart technology to keep vulnerable people safe while allowing maximum independence.

Presenter:  Sandy Henry, Senior Director

Presenter Bio:

Sandy Henry worked to support people with disabilities in the community for over 30 years.  In 2007, she helped author a pilot proposal submitted to Minnesota county and state agencies to demonstrate the use of technology in supporting people with various abilities and disabilities to improve efficiency and enable even greater independence.   That eventually led to the formation of Sengistix in 2008.

Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives

Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives is a project of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities.  It is aimed at helping people with disabilities live the lives they want to live, with the support of family, friends, community and public resources.

The project offers self-advocates, families and friends the opportunity to create Microboards and Human Service Cooperatives, consumer-governed structures that bring resources, authority and responsibility directly into the hands of the people whose lives are most affected by the way support services are organized.
